11+ Essentials Verbal Reasoning: Vocabulary in Context Level 2 - Eleven Plus Exams

A versatile and well-developed vocabulary is a vital component of 11 plus and Common Entrance exams, but is often one of the more difficult components to attain. Both the verbal reasoning and comprehension sections of these exams typically contain questions to test a student’s breadth of vocabulary and ability to use context to infer the meaning of words unfamiliar to them. The Vocabulary in Context series contains intentionally difficult and unfamiliar vocabulary to encourage students to infer the meaning of new words from their context in a given classic or contemporary passage. Each sequential book in the series increases in difficulty to encourage consistent, long-term development of reading and comprehension skills. The series targets the key skills involved in verbal reasoning and comprehension, and offers a unique approach to studying for the 11 plus. Vocabulary in Context: Level 2 comprises 50 exercises total, each containing a short passage, five sentence-completion questions, and five word-definition questions. This book also includes an interesting word origin or idiom on each page. For further practice in this format, see 11+ Essentials Verbal Reasoning: Vocabulary in Context Levels 1, 3 & 4.
