Amores perros - Guillermo Arriaga

Amores Perros is a bold, ambitious and intensely emotional story of lives that collide in a Mexico City car crash. Guillermo Arriaga's screenplay is as inventively structured as a Paul Auster lovel: a triptych of overlapping and intersecting narratives, exploring the lives of disparate characters who are catapulted into unforeseen dramatic situations, instigated by the seemingly inconsequential destiny of a dog named Cofi.  Octavio, Cofi's teenage owner, enters the dog into brutal fighting contests, hoping to win enough money so that he can elope with Susana, the appealing young wife of his aggressive brother Ramiro. A near-fatal injury to Cofi prompts a reckless car chase that ends violently . . .  Dliddle-aged businessman Daniel discovers that dreams can become nightmares, after he abandons his family to set up house with a beautiful young model, Valeria, who is tragically transformed by the crash . . .  And El Chivo, a revolutionary-turned-assassin, witnesses the accident and finds that it leads him to a life-changing moral epiphany . . . These stories mesh to make Amores Perros a powerful and profound story of love, loss, retribution and redemption.
