Berlin 1920-1950 (Sounds of an E.R.A) - Marko Paysan

The music and culture and turbulent times of one of the jewel cities of Europe is celebrated in this spectacular coffee table book and 3-CD set. Berlin is regarded as the laboratory of modernism, and the city's incredible arc from ruling the world in the roaring 20s to the division of the city after WWII are chronicled here. After the First World War, Berlin became the epicenter of continental culture and sophistication thanks to its decadent charm and cultural leadership in the arts. For fashion, music, cabaret, theater and film, there was no way around Berlin, the great pleasure dome of Europe. Rare photographs, documents and more detail the music of the decades, but also provides a deeper historical retrospective describing contrasts between elegance and hardship, and grace and dread during the turbulent decades of the 1920s up to the 1950s.
