BEST OF DOROTHY PARKER - Dorothy Parker

Dorothy Parker, the best known of the famous group of humorists who met at the Algonquin Hotel in New York in the 1920s, is without doubt one of the great twentieth-century literary originals, a classic even in her own lifetime. Her trenchant satire owes much to her deep understanding of life, and she remains one of the most quotable authors of our time.Legendary for her mastery of the wisecrack and back-handed compliment, she has been described as `one of the wittiest people in the world, and one of the saddest`. It is her wit that is most apparent in her work, as can be readily appreciated in this entertaining collection of all her most famous poems, stories and sketches.
