Courtesans' Arts: Cross-cultural Perspectives - Feldman, Martha (Professor of Music, Professor of Music, The University of Chicago) a Gordon, Bonnie (Assistant Professor of Music, Assistant Professor of Music, State University of New York)

Courtesans' arts have shaped cultures through art for millenia, even though their arts have been frequently lost. This interdisciplinary collection explores courtesan cultures in ancient Greece, renaissance Italy, East Asia, and the Indian sub-continent, past and present, to show hoe the arts have figured in the courtesan's survival and demise.
