Democratic Predicament

Contesting the conventional idea of democracy as the preserver of diversity, this book proposes that democracy, in fact, produces and reinforces cultural heterogeneity. It critiques the dominant multiculturalist practices of negotiating diversity in India and Europe highlighting the complexities underlying the politics of national integration and recognition of cultural identities.
