Elton John - The Archive - Carolyn McHugh

This is the story of the boy from Pinner who became one of the most legendary artists and musicians of the 20th century, and who returned to prominence in the 21st with music and performances informed by hard-won sobriety, wisdom, and an undiminished love for his craft. Through his life and work, he changed lives and those of generations to come. Elton John's music is loved by many and known by all as the soundtrack to five decades of joy, heartbreak, and celebration that began with the release of "Your Song" in 1970. Through the flamboyant costumes and outrageous glasses that followed, the work in film, musical theatre, charity, and tireless activism, Elton's voice rang clearly across the decades summoning everyone to a party where authenticity would be celebrated and love would always triumph. Elton John has remained forever resilient, performing, creating, collaborating, inspiring and moving forward. This book follows a life that as much as any other was a personal journey of struggle and redemption, but one in which so many joined and made part of their own.
