Hikemates - With respect for nature

Without giving away too much, we can tell you that the following pages will take you on an extraordinary journey to the other side of the globe. To remote places where Joel Santos captures vanishing traditions through astonishing images. To the mountain tops where Reinhold Messner talks about tragedy, controversy, and balancing on the edge of life and death that defined his life. You’ll also get a closer look at the challenges mountain huts face nowadays. Hikemates is the biggest hiking club in Slovakia. Originally, we published Hikemates magazine locally for our members and readers in Slovakia and Czechia. But in the spring of 2024, we’ll bring you the first international version of our magazine in full length. This is a special edition–the first sample published in English to give you a taste of our work.
