Horka - A Home That Was (Surviving in Czechoslovakia 1938 - 1949) - Otto Szokoloczi

As World War 2 played out around them, Otto and Molly find themselves facing the endless day-to-day difficulties of juggling the demands of the two sides - the Germans and the Russian-backed Partisans - as they attempt to hold their lives together. Then, when the war finally over, comes a new battle to hold onto their home and livelihood in the face of a hostile Communist-leaning government. This personal memoir of life in Slovakia between 1938 and 1949 is told in their own voices by a couple whose quiet bravery speaks for the millions of other untold stories from that terrible time.
