Lartigue / Kertész: Masters of Modern Photography

This volume pays tribute to two masters of international photography, Jacques Henri Lartigue (1894-1986) and André Kertész (1894-1985). Described as ‘the greatest amateur photographer of the 20th century’ and ‘the inventor of photojournalism’ as early as the 1960s, they are both characterised by a unique and highly personal aesthetic that set them apart from the main trends in photography of their time. This volume compares their parallel careers, presenting around 185 photographs and archive documents, and highlighting both similarities and differences in terms of their lives and approach to the photographic lens.
