Last Great Quest - Jones, Max (, University of Manchester)

The story of Captain Scott's last Antarctic expedition is one of the greatest adventure stories. Rejecting the stereotypes, Max Jones reveals a complex figure, a product of the passions and preoccupations of an imperial age. He shows how heroes are made and manipulated by looking at the outpouring of grief at the news of the Scott's death.
