This is the first scholarly book to cover the modern history of spa (mineral springs) resorts, from the eighteenth to the twentieth century, over most of the Western world. It casts its net widely to examine social, cultural, political and medical themes across eight countries and three continents. This book was published as a special issue of the Journal of Tourism History.
