Miss Seeton Rocks the Cradle - Hamilton Crane, Heron Carvic

From her discovery of an aristocratic infant abandoned in a village telephone booth, to dark doings amongst Scottish banks and braes, it’s a rollercoaster ride for Miss Seeton in this adventure with a tartan touch. Grateful parents Lord and Lady Glenclachan sweep Miss S. northward to MacSporran Castle, their ancestral home, where, as her admiring reporter pal Amelita Forby (scenting a story and hot on her trail) puts it, ‘Battling Brolly Finds Corpse Near Crag’ – not to mention tangling with Jacobites and searching for a fabled gold mine. As usual, the retired art teacher’s inner eye sees to the essence of this heady Highland brew. Serene amidst every kind of skulduggery, this eccentric English spinster steps in where Scotland Yard stumbles, armed with nothing more than her sketchpad and umbrella!
