New Women in the Old West (From Settlers to Suffragists, an Untold American Story) - Winifred Gallagher

In the underdeveloped American West, the domestic model of womanhood shifted to include public service, with women establishing social enterprises and co-providing for their families. When Wyoming gave them the vote - to persuade more of them to move west - Suffragists fought until the rest of the region followed suit and western women were the first American women to vote. Drawing on amazing research, Gallagher weaves a striking legacy of the individuals who created homes on the prairies and played a vital, role in the women''s rights movement, forever redefining the ''American woman''.
