Overliked - Rob Singleton

How to Connect with What's Most Important in a Hyperconnected World. Social media has the power to do a lot of good, but it can also get in the way of authenticity and create a sense of disillusionment. In Overliked, pastor and author Rob Singleton, offers a compelling and compassionate view into how people can better leverage and enjoy social media without losing who they are. This book doesn't point fingers at people who use social media. It isn't anti-technology. It's a book about having true and authentic relationships with others and holding on to a healthy sense of self.Social media, the author says, is a way to connect people, and real relationships are at the heart of it all. But when people recognize they've begun to look for acceptance in it or feel pressure to project something about themselves that isn't true, that's a problem that runs deep. Using Biblical wisdom, research, references to pop culture, engaging stories, and personal insights from his experience as a pastor, parent, and fellow social-media user, Singleton helps readers see that the real them is better than any image they project or avatar they create.Written for those who believe-for this generation and the next-that they need to get a better handle on social media in their lives and the lives of those they care about, this book will deliver a powerful message and extend a sense of hope. Singleton writes with humility, sincerity, clarity, and humour, tackling a complicated issue in a way that is directly relevant and immediately relatable to readers..
