So Long, and Thanks For All the Face Masks! - Jan Pilát

“Now I think I understand why this idea occurred to me. When I started to really enjoy life in the Netherlands, the pandemic disrupted it abruptly. Therefore, during that last year, I had to look for the traces of what I liked and what could help me sustain a positive attitude.” So Long, and Thanks For All the Face Masks! is a direct, honest statement about the joys and hardships of youth, about dreams that you can only have in your twenties. The author was inspired by personal experiences during his university studies in the Netherlands. The fresh student story offers a unique testimony about the inner world, joys and confusions of the soul, about the hard days of a young man who stepped out into the world from a safe family shelter. Together with the author, we experience exciting and relaxing moments in The Hague, demanding work commitments, consistently bad weather, challenging studies, troubles with the pandemic, and also a slowly strengthening relationship with the country that temporarily became his home.
