Study in Greene - Bergonzi, Bernard (Emeritus Professor of English, University of Warwick)

This book examines Graham Greene's structure and language and traces the obsessive motifs that recur throughout his novels. Bergonzi argues that Greene was at his best in the earlier work, which combines melodrama, realism, and poetry, and that his masterpiece is Brighton Rock (1938). Academics and general readers alike will enjoy this study.
