The 6 Principles for Exemplary Teaching of English Learners - TESOL Writing Team

The 6 Principles for Exemplary Teaching of English Learners® is a core set of principles for English language teaching and learning. The 6 Principles are targets of excellence that provide teachers with the knowledge to make informed decisions to improve instruction and assessment.   This second edition of The 6 Principles for Exemplary Teaching of English Learners: Grades K-12 reflects evolving knowledge about second language acquisition and pedagogy for multilingual learners of English. It also addresses some shifts in educational policies and includes updated the research, new vignettes from teachers around the world, and a new chapter to showcase the implementation of the 6 Principles in different contexts. There is an enhanced focus on student assets and culturally responsive teaching, technology, literacy development, and social-emotional learning. ,
