Translation and Survival - Rajak, Tessa (Professor Emertius of Ancient History, University of Reading, and Member of the Jewish Studies Unit, Oxford University)

A new study of the translation of the Hebrew Bible into Greek. Without it there would have been no Western Jewish disapora and no Christianity. Rajak places the production of the Septuagint in historical context, investigates its creators, and examines its role in the culture of Jews, Greeks, and Christians during the centuries of its making.
