Underground Life - Simonin, Louis

First published in 1867, and reissued here in its 1869 translation, this highly illustrated work is regarded as having inspired Zola's Germinal. Covering metallurgy and mineralogy, and the history of mining, as well as techniques, methods and equipment, Louis Simonin (1830-86) also brings the struggles of miners to life.
