The Ghosts Of Olesko - Max Mauser

WHAT THEY TOOK FROM OLESKO FOLLOWED THEM HOME. The Great War is almost over. Eleven cavalrymen ride west out of a burning Ukraine, fleeing the collapse of the Eastern Front. They carry a stolen icon - the Blue Madonna - and a secret they will spend the rest of their lives trying to forget. Years later, the Madonna resurfaces in a quiet villa outside Oslo. Not long after, one of the men who rode out of Olesko is found dead beneath her gaze. First published in 1935 under the pseudonym Max Mauser, The Ghosts of Olesko is a dark Nordic crime classic: an international mystery of theft, guilt and murder, shaped by the haunted aftermath of the First World War.
