The Iron Chariot - Stein Riverton

THE IRON CHARIOT IS ONLY HEARD ON NIGHTS BEFORE A MURDER. Norway, 1909. On a small island off the southern coast, the summer passes in unbroken sun. Until one night, across the rocky moorlands, the distant rattle of chains is heard. The locals know what it means. The summer guests do not. When the master of the nearby mansion is found dead, a forester is accused - but a writer staying at the island hotel realises that what he saw that night does not fit the story. First published in 1909 and voted Norway's greatest crime novel of all time by Norway's crime writers, Stein Riverton's The Iron Chariot is a landmark of Nordic crime fiction: eerie, elegant, and as unsettling now as it was more than a century ago.
